Frik De Meyere

Frik De Meyere’s business journey began in Belgium and has led him to become a well-regarded figure in Belize’s real estate market. With over twenty years of experience across multiple industries, he has built a reputation for fostering growth and innovation in the markets where he operates. Today, as the founder of Prime Belize Real Estate, he continues to guide property buyers and investors toward opportunities in the Caribbean.

Growing up in a small farming village near the Dutch border, Frik completed his education in Ghent and Antwerp, earning degrees in information technology and emergency medical services. He later advanced his education with an MBA from Flanders Business School and another from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.

Frik’s early professional years were spent in Europe, where he gained broad experience across several industries. He worked in real estate development, information systems, cosmetics, food production, and construction. Over ten years, he led and invested in over twenty startup ventures, some of which were acquired or merged with larger firms. He also played a role in constructing and selling over one hundred residential units during this time.

His connection with Belize began in 2004 during a business scouting trip with his partner, Ilse Van Keer. Recognizing opportunities in the local real estate sector, Frik started to acquire properties. In 2011, he and his family moved to Belize, where he joined the BMA real estate firm in Placencia.

At BMA, Frik was part of a small team with modest transaction volumes. Under his leadership and efforts, the firm experienced significant growth. Annual transactions increased from fewer than fifteen to more than one hundred, and the team expanded to over twenty professionals. The firm also began handling high-value listings, such as private islands and luxury beachfront properties, helping attract investors from North America and Europe.

In 2023, Frik charted a new path by establishing Prime Belize Real Estate. Along with trusted colleagues and experienced local agents, he built a company focused on modern service and responsiveness. Prime Belize Real Estate officially launched in January 2024. He leads sales, strategy, and business development, offering various properties, from land parcels to fully developed private islands.

Frik has launched additional ventures outside of real estate sales to support Belize’s property market. He founded 501properties.com, a real estate classifieds platform, and developed Placencia Storage, the country’s largest storage rental facility. Additionally, he and Ilse opened Chillpoint, a coffee shop, ice cream bar, and wine lounge in Placencia, which remains a popular community space.

Frik has contributed to the Belizean community in various ways. He became a naturalized citizen and was appointed a Justice of the Peace. He has supported education initiatives, local sports, the fire department, and housing for educators. He and Ilse have also fostered children and adopted a daughter from Belize.

Today, Frik remains an active voice in the real estate industry and continues to share insights through media appearances and investment events. Away from business, he enjoys fitness, mountain climbing, and car collecting, always seeking new challenges and opportunities for growth.
